The Rat Terrier was originally bred as a multipurpose farm dog — capable of hunting rodents and vermin both above and below ground, and coursing small game. Today, they're prized as intelligent, energetic, and affectionate companions who still carry that same working instinct, whether in the conformation ring, on an earthdog course, or just keeping the backyard squirrel population in check.
Rat Terriers come in two size varieties (Miniature and Standard) and a wide range of colors and markings, always with their signature parti-color patterning.
